kristin govers working on script

Hi there! I’m Kristin

I’m the owner of Two Left Feet Productions MTL. I started this production company in 2022 after writing my first solo show, “The Awkward Ballerina,” directed by TJ Dawe.

How did I get here?

From a young age, I’ve always been drawn to the arts. Whether it was through dancing, singing, musical theatre or school plays, I always wanted to be involved.

I’ve dabbled in many things, from professional choir to French theatre, and even starting my own band. But in the end, it was pen and paper that really called to me.

There’s just something special about creating stories. It connects you to people.

Leaving my job to pursue my passion

As a literature graduate of Concordia University who has always had a passion for writing and telling stories, I left my job as an editor in 2021 to pursue a career in creative writing.

I started working on an outline for a book about my experiences growing up with cerebral palsy. However, my path took an unexpected turn after a chance reading of one of my short stories, “Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches.”

This would lead me to joining TJ Dawe’s Solo Show Workshop and to discovering a love for writing solo plays.

“It seemed easier to sit behind the book instead of in front of it, and then one day, that all changed.”

Realizing my dream

With the goal of spreading awareness about living with a disability and bringing people together, I worked hard to transform my two-page short story into a one-person show.

After completing levels 1, 2, and 3 of the workshops, I had a full second draft of my show, “The Awkward Ballerina.”

In June 2022, my show had its world debut at the St-Ambroise Montreal Fringe Festival and thus Two Left Feet Productions MTL was created.

“Incredibly gifted storyteller. A fantastic show. It’ll leave you tearing up and then crying with laughter.”

– Cat Preston

"She is inspiring and motivational in describing her perseverant pursuit of her dreams, all the while remaining honest and vulnerable about the unique trials she has overcome.”

– Ishini Fernando, Inspirations News

“Kristin Govers delivers such a vulnerable and courageous performance.”

– Erin Farmer Perrine

“The Awkward Ballerina” is a beautiful, moving theatrical experience. As someone with cerebral palsy, I found myself hanging on Kristin’s every word-reliving the pains, joys, sorrows, and triumphs of growing up with a disability. I wanted to laugh and cry all at once!”

– Michael Murray

"With her medical condition, a career in professional dancing was not in the cards. But Govers has found a different — and better — purpose on the stage.”

– Matt Palm, Orlando Sentinel

A storyteller’s mission…

Years ago, I said I wanted to change the world one word at a time.

Honestly, I wasn’t 100% sure what that would look like or where to start, but I certainly couldn’t do it alone.

I aim to use storytelling to connect with my audience and inspire change. Through solo shows, podcasts, and shared creative space, I hope to raise disability awareness and bring people together. With a strong emphasis on creativity and truth, Two Left Feet Productions MTL is a company that hopes to make a difference.

Sharing stories can unite people and help us to better understand one another.

In case you were wondering…

I’m a vintage, classic rock ‘n’ roll lover.

Favourite band is The Beatles! (Peace and Love all the way)

I love to dance even though I'm awful at it.

I am the type to dance in my kitchen while playing air guitar, and singing with a spatula.

My best writing is done outdoors.

Bonfires, lots of trees, a wild garden, and the warm sunshine.

I'm a sucker for broadway.

Anything from Moulin Rouge to Les Mis!

I'm a family gal.

They are my numero uno! They need me, I’m there!
